About SeaJets

SeaJets is a Piraeus-based ferry company that has grown into the operator of the largest high-speed fleet in the Aegean: 29 ships, about 24,000 passenger and 3,800 vehicle places, 50 islands and some 400 port-to-port connections across the Cyclades and to Crete. The company traces its roots to 1989 and counts 36 years at sea. On Santorini it is the operator with the most origins, from Piraeus and Crete to the Cyclades hubs and the small western islands, almost all of it with fast catamarans and monohulls rather than conventional ships.

The ships on the Santorini routes

Seventeen vessels appear on the Santorini sailings in the current feed, and they fall into three groups. The large car-carrying catamarans work the trunk routes from Piraeus, Heraklion, Mykonos, Naxos and Paros: WorldChampion Jet, 87 metres, 1,280 passengers and 140 vehicles at up to 50 knots; Champions League Jet 1 and 2 with 1,172 passengers and 140 vehicles; Eurochampion Jet and Eurochampion Jet 2 with 1,100 passengers and 130 vehicles; Champion Jet 1, 2 and 3 with 1,000 to 1,100 passengers and 200 vehicles; Olympic Champion Jet with 1,152 passengers and 100 vehicles; and Elite Jet, 1,000 passengers and 181 vehicles, on the Rethymno link. The monohulls Tera Jet (1,750 passengers, 350 vehicles), Tera Jet 2 and Superrunner Jet and the conventional Super Star, which also has pet cabins, appear on the Tinos and Andros chain. The third group is the small passenger-only catamarans on the western Cyclades and Small Cyclades hops: Superjet with 394 seats, Superjet 2 with 386 and Super Cat Jet with 300, none of them with a vehicle deck. All ships have a café bar, pet kennels and Wi-Fi; the large ones add a shop and lifts.

Routes to Santorini on this site

From Athens, SeaJets sails Piraeus - Santorini in about 5 hours 40 minutes, the fast alternative to the conventional ships. From Crete, Heraklion - Santorini takes about 1 hour 35 minutes and Rethymno is served with Elite Jet. On the Cyclades circuit the company links Mykonos in about 2 hours 30 minutes, Naxos in about 1 hour 25 minutes, Paros in about 1 hour 50 minutes and Ios in about 40 minutes, plus Syros, Tinos and Andros. The western Cyclades and Small Cyclades hops from Milos, Folegandros, Sifnos, Serifos, Katapola on Amorgos and Koufonissi run a few times a week in season, mostly with the small catamarans. Check-in, vehicle and pet

SeaJets' general terms ask foot passengers to be at the embarkation area at least 30 minutes before departure and drivers to present the vehicle at the loading area 60 minutes before, at every port. Tickets are nominal, so name, nationality and date of birth go on the ticket and ID is checked at boarding. Hand luggage of up to 50 kilos or one cubic metre travels free. Vehicles are carried only on the ships with a garage listed above; the driver loads and unloads alone, other occupants walk on, and electric or plug-in hybrid cars must arrive with the battery at 40 percent or less, LPG and CNG vehicles with the tank at most half full. Pets are declared at booking so a free pet ticket can be issued, with the health booklet and microchip number on the ticket; every ship has kennels, a pet of up to 10 kilos in a carrier may stay in a private cabin if the whole cabin is booked, and on open-deck ships it may stay outside on a lead and muzzled. Unaccompanied animals are not carried; guide dogs are allowed in all areas.

Tickets

Tickets are sold online through the booking step on each route page, on SeaJets' own site and at port agencies. Children up to five travel free on an infant seat, children from five to ten pay half, and premium seat classes are priced separately. A ticket can be converted to an open-date ticket up to 12 hours before departure, four hours on conventional ships, and cancellation refunds step down with the time left before sailing under the company's contractual terms.
